The boys from Acoustic Element and ALT EGO celebrated back-to-back sold-out shows at Café Roux, while they also featured alongside the country’s top musos and creatives at the South African Fashion Week in Johannesburg.
What an exciting few days!
We started off our weekend with our second concert at Café Roux – an event called “Acoustic Element presents ALT EGO Volume 2”. After an amazing sold-out show on our debut night in June, we were amazed to perform in front of another full house at the venue.
The vibe at Café Roux is always so much fun! The mood was set by DJ Cosher opening the evening by playing a set that got everyone warmed up. And then it was AE time – there was a clear distinction between Acoustic Element and ALT EGO, and as such, the themes of our performance were very different.
In the guise of Acoustic Element, our acoustic set, as always, was a very pristine production, providing something different for the audience to sit back, watch, listen and really take in.
And when it came to ALT EGO, we created one big party – together with DJ Cosher on the decks.
Our highlight of the night was playing our original and getting a positive reaction from the crowd. That just emphasised that our mission of pushing the boundaries with our acoustic touch mixed with electronic synths resonates with our fans. This encourages us to push more of our own music!
Looking into the crowd, we recognised a diverse group of people – one with many new faces. We spoke to most of the audience members after the show. Many of them saw us perform at the One and Only Hotel at the V&A Waterfront, Mojo Market and the Night Nation Run (our first outdoor festival). There were many tourists too, coming from countries like Italy, Holland, the USA, Australia, France and Sweden (where we recently played our first international gig!).
Having sold out at Café Roux on our first two attempts, we will definitely be planning more public shows!
There were more highlights over the weekend as we launched our new single Embrasse Moi on the Coke Top 40 SA with Carl Wastie on KFM. The song was well received by listeners and we had such a jam in studio. We hope that people will request all radio stations to play the track regularly.
Meanwhile, on Monday, we jetted off to Johannesburg, where we are shooting the music video for Embrasse Moi in an exciting collaboration with Sunglass Hut.
We can’t reveal too much just yet, but it promises to be another exciting feature off our ALT EGO album. Stay tuned to our social media and website for more updates.
It wasn’t all work during our time in the City of Gold as we got to have some fun at the South African Fashion Week, sponsored by Cruz Vodka.
We socialised with some of South Africa’s hottest musicians and creatives, including Trevor Stuurman, Toya de Lazy and Donald. We also bumped into fellow Cape Town peeps Nadia Jaftha and Lindy Lin. And of course, we were snapped in our latest pair of sunnies from Sunglass Hut!
Upon our return to Cape Town, you can find us on stage at the One and Only’s Vista Bar three times a week, while we’ll also be preparing for the Community Chest’s charity event this weekend.
With festive season coming up, we’re receiving so many bookings. So if you want us to perform at your public or private event, get in touch today!
