Callen Petersen reveals some interesting information about Acoustic Element and ALT EGO bandmate Jody Abel, who celebrated his birthday last weekend!
What did you do to celebrate Jody’s birthday?
We had a bit of a birthday week with a whole lot of celebrations of lunches, dinners and parties. But on his physical birthday we had a champagne brunch, a gig (shows the level of dedication of this guy!) and ending it off with an incredibly well put together family party with close friends. The whole week was very extra.
What kind of person is he when he’s not performing?
Off stage, the best way to describe him is a “ball of gees”. Definitely the life of the party.
Complete the sentence… I love performing Jody because…
… he gets me on stage.
What value does Jody bring to the group?
His value has no measure! What everyone sees is his guitar and beatbox skills. What they don’t see is the fact that he’s an admin king and excellent at client relationships. I guess we complement each other because we are, simultaneously, completely different and completely the same. We literally finish each other’s sentences and thoughts.
What would you consider his most funniest moment on stage?
We were playing a gig last year on New Year’s Eve and there was a guy watching us from his window naked – that’s an uncomfortable story on its own. But Jody proceeded to beatbox the sentence “that guy is naked” to the entire listening audience. It was rough!
His secret talents?
Predicting Bitcoin prices. And driving. He is very good at driving.
And pet peeves?
People driving over solid lines.
What are his hobbies?
Soccer, cricket, golf… anything sports-related.
What’s his favourite meal?
He is always on the lookout for a good burger!
What does he do that irritates you?
He gets song lyrics wrong. All the time! And he’s good at everything, which can be annoying!
Any final words…
Jody, we’ve come a long way, brother! And have a long way to go! It’s been an incredible journey and friendship. Here’s to very many more! Hope you had a memorable and special birthday.
